It’s a good time of year to be reviewing dessert wines. Plenty of sweets around. I had this with simple flourless orange cake for what it’s worth. Very tasty it was too although I suspect a cheescake of some sort would have worked even better.
It avoids the over-powering sweetness that puts me off a lot of local botrytis wines. There’s 180g/l residual sugar in there but a terrific line of acidity tidies it up well. The expected apricot flavour is met by plenty of candied orange peel, some background florals and a little pith. Lemon sherbet and a refreshing suggestion of mineral see it out. Balance and persistence lift it above the pack. Very Good
