2010 Yering Station Cabernet Sauvignon

Ripe and somewhat lush like many of the new release Yering Station wines but to my mind this pulls it off. I like Yarra Valley Cabernet when it’s a little less stern.

Thick with the flavour of blackcurrants, pouch tobacco, coffee grounds and dark chocolate. There’s a satisfying gamey-ness rubbing up against some truffle and mint as well. Density and depth with enough strands of chewy tannin to give a suggestion of varietal angularity without interfering with the generous swagger otherwise featured. I’m not suggesting that it won’t age but I’m quite happy drinking this now. Very Good
