Trebbiano is a much maligned grape . When people take issue with you for watering down Pinot Grigio you know you have an image problem. This is the first straight varietal version I’ve tasted and while I can see why some label the grape bland and uninspiring I must say I really enjoyed drinking it. Made me feel like I was on a seaside holiday.
Lovely fresh nose of lemon citrus, honey coated cashews, sour dough and white flowers. It’s a delicate and savoury wine with a lovely sea-spray edge, breezy acidity, pear and citrus, hints of spice and just a slight pucker of bitterness. Deft use of lees and oak. Very difficult to rate but an absolute winner with shellfish. Good
