I’m a big fan of blended whites made with intent and that’s clearly the case with this effort from Oakridge. The Sauvignon is dominant but 23% Semillon stretches its legs through a lemon citrus finish while 10% Pinot Gris adds musky notes and a little fruit generosity.
Quite a haunting nose of gooseberry, peas, smoke and grass with a hint of scones and cream. There’s some flint at the core of a gentle entry and it surfaces to bring shape and form to the back palate. It’s a subtle and layered wine with a lovely balance of flavours and moods. Really interesting and (more importantly) quite delicious. Very Good
