2010 Oakridge Lieu-dit Duck’s Lane Chardonnay

Another day, another fantastic Chardonnay from David Bicknell. I’ve tasted this three times – once just prior to release, once amidst nine other Chardonnays from the 2010 vintage in the Yarra and again on the weekend. It’s looked good each time but I’d say it’s only just beginning to hit its straps. The best is still to come.

A core of citrus continues to be evident; lime, lemon, grapefruit and the like. Honeydew melon and white peach surface with a bit of air, seguing nicely into vanilla sponge with just a hint of cinnamon. It’s tangy and focused with oak very much in the background. A suggestion of almond lingers long after you’ve swallowed. Subtle but intense. Trademark Oakridge. Excellent – Exceptional
