Timo Mayer’s wines are almost always unforced and engaging. There are recurring motifs – funk, stalks, minimal interference from oak etc – but there isn’t a recipe. As such, they’re the perfect antidote to a lot of the soulless rubbish out there.
A layer of solids stink presides over green Packham pear, grapefruit, crunchy nectarine and white peach. There’s mildness to the initial mouth feel but this wine shines through the back end where it is incisive, crystalline and minerally. A hint of cool herbs and some barely perceptible sourness contribute further complexity. Extremely serene and refreshing. Very Good
