2010 Giant Steps Sexton Vineyard Chardonnay

This is from the site that, in a sense, brought Giant Steps owner Phil Sexton to the Yarra Valley in 1997. Seventy-five acres nestled at the foothills of the Warramate ranges, planted to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz along with a little bit of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.

A sure fire crowd-pleaser that doesn’t sacrifice quality. White stonefruit, nectarine and lemon. Tropicals and citrus in tandem. Nougat oak is comfortably pitched, adding creaminess to the mealy textured palate. There’s a bit of complexing solids funk too.  A good line of acid, indicative of the quality of the vintage, yet it maintains a yielding mouth feel. Nutty and spicy on the finish with a bit of tang. Very Good
