Arthurs Creek Vineyard is situated in the North West corner of the Yarra Valley near St Andrews. The light grey clay soils on this site retain adequate amounts of water but limit excessive vegetative growth. This canopy control provides great intensity of fruit and acidity with a balanced alcohol level.
Creamy cashew, oatmeal, stonefruit and melon accompany the requisite line of citrus tinged acid. This gains composure through the back palate after an entry of generous proportions. The fruit sweetness draws attention to a complexing level of pithy bitterness with some bready characters playing an intermediary role.
The presence of oak is more obvious than in the other single vineyard Chardonnays from Giant Steps. Overall, it’s a more curvaceous expression of the variety. Very Good
