It’s the third time I’ve tasted this wine so I should get a note up. There’s quality here and if you hunt around I’m pretty sure you’ll find a keen price.
A real sense of brightness and life over decay - although a note of autumnal leaf resides in the background along with some stringy rhubarb. Otherwise it’s sweet red and black cherry shot with sarsaparilla, cinnamon, dried flowers and star anise. Cedary oak is well played and there’s lovely sappy tannin along with a fine line of acid. It finishes savoury and I expect that’s the direction it will take given some bottle age. Very Good

Better than the 08 in your opinion JP? I’ve actually much preferred the 10 Gulf Station over the 08 GS, so keen to give this a look.
Yes, certainly a step up from the 2008. Finer structure, more vital and should live longer if you want to cellar it. That’s the case with a lot of 2010 Yarra Valley Pinots. Very impressive vintage. Check out Timo Mayer’s wines too if you get a chance – my personal favourites from a good bunch.
