There’s a decent explanation of the term lieu-dit on Wikipedia so I’ll just mention that, in part, it refers to the name of a vineyard – in this case the Duck’s Lane vineyard near Seville in the Yarra Valley.
“In this series, our endeavour is to produce wines that show the true personality of the vineyard of origin”
100% whole berry, wild yeast, open top fermenters, one initial pump-over, only 10% new oak, single filtration…which is to say that the emphasis is on the fruit. That’s very much how it tastes too.
A light cherry and cranberry fragrance sits atop a gentle plum base note. The acidity imparts a vibrancy to proceedings but never oversteps the mark. Some spice and understated tannin. It’s fresh, pretty and pure, giving the strong impression of a vineyard laid bare. Very Good
