2010 Giant Steps Sexton Vineyard Pinot Noir

Lest it seem as if I am on some sort of secret Yarra Valley Wine Association payroll I’m staggering these 2010 Giant Steps single vineyard reviews. There was a bit of discussion on twitter today regarding impartiality, reviews, samples and involvement with wineries. For the record, I receive no money from any Yarra Valley winery but I did receive these wines as samples. I’m very happy about that too. Damn good wines.

This one is more obvious and affable than the other Pinots. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. Cherry and pomegranate lightly coated in chocolate. Brown spice, anise and the mere suggestion of mulch. Kind of cuddly (for a Pinot) but with ample structure.

It may deserve a higher rating but I think you can read between the lines and see that I rather fancied it. Very Good
