2004 Meerea Park Alexander Munro Semillon

Hunter Valley 10.5% Screwcap $35

“White light, White light goin’ messin’ up my mind
White light, and don’t you know its gonna make me go blind
White heat, aww white heat it tickle me down to my toes
White light, Ooo have mercy while I’ll have it goodness knows”

Sourced from dry grown vines in the Braemore vineyard, Pokolbin…resplendent with its famous sandy alluvial soils. Ridiculously youthful wine. Lemon with a dash of lime, a few caraway seeds and only the faintest hints of wax, honey, pear and toast. The suggestion of sherbet sends tingles down your spine as it joins the searing line of citrus and minerals on a palate which only hints at the transformations that lie ahead of it. Length and intensity attest to the fact that it’s going to reach great heights but the rush is only just beginning.

Brilliant gear. Tuck this away for 6-10 more years (minimum) and then revel in its peak. Don’t use up your entire stash now.

I had a glass of the 2006 (I think) at Cutler & Co last weekend and it was excellent. Will have to stash a few of these away. I've been a fan of the Alexander Munro shiraz for years.
