2007 Mitchell Harris Cabernet Sauvignon

Pyrenees 13.5% Screwcap $21.99 Source: Retail

A total steal, picked up on the recommendation of Mr Anthony D’Anna – who is yet to sell me a dud wine. That builds loyalty when it comes to online retailing. And the word gets around, trust me…

Intense blackberry verging on cassis, both tomato and gum leaf with some earthiness and a little polished boot leather. There’s chocolate on the palate too, with black and blue fruits brushing up against some lovely charry notes. The tannin structure is both fine and confident in imposing its shape on the flavour while the acidity is there but nicely integrated. A little blonde tobacco adds another layer.

Lovely wine, will only get better. I’ll be trying to hold off opening any more bottles for a while yet…trying, I can’t guarantee anything because it’s drinking very well already.
