2008 Forester Estate Chardonnay

Margaret River 13.0% Screwcap $28 Source: Retail

Covered in bling, the surprise being that so much of it is bronze.  It’s a better wine than that.
There’s bit of sulfurous pong which settles into enjoyable funk.  Lemon curd and lovely aniseedy thyme like flavours with melon and grapefruit. Honeysuckle, resin and apricot on the nose too.  Brimming with character. The acidity is brisk but good and seems to merge with a little spice.  Superb length.

A very interesting take on Margaret River Chardonnay, and one that works extremely well.  Very much in its sweet spot now, but it would be intriguing to hold on to some for a while longer.  Structure and fruit intensity indicate that it will hold and develop for a few more years yet.
