2008 Eldridge Estate Single Clone MV6 Pinot Noir

Mornington Peninsula 13.6% Screwcap $50 Source: Winery

I’ve been having a good look at some 07 and 08 Eldridge reds in the last month.  They’re all very good in their own way.  The MV6 has an immediacy to it that should please a lot of palates.

An open nose of sweet dark cherry, raspberries, pâté, stewed rhubarb and brown spice.  It’s all echoed on the palate with integrated acidity & supple tannins along with the addition of star anise. Some stalky and sappy hints are welcome in terms of complexity. Oak is there but in the background.  It lingers nicely with a little strawberry jam on the back palate.

Medium light in body, lively yet soft in the mouth, this offers a nice hit for Pinot fanciers, with familiar flavours, some changeups and excellent execution of a theme.
