2005 Cooper Burns Shiraz

Barossa 14.5% Screwcap $35 Source- Sample

I’m in Melbourne for my brother’s wedding at the moment and I must say I’m drinking some rather stunning wines. But I’ll get to those soon. I tasted this one just before I left and thought “Good-o, I must write a quick note about it when I get a chance”. So, without further ado, here it is.

Plummy, liquorice overtones with white pepper and ginger spice. Red and black fruits are more prominent on the palate and are woven together most harmoniously. Oak derived coffee and generous dark chocolate shavings as well. It gets a little savoury at the end with some nice coal and a sprinkle of rock salt. It’s just over medium bodied, elegant but intense and rather seamless. Tannins are long and drying. I can’t fault it but I can certainly enjoy it. It’s another crackingly good Barossan Shiraz. What more do you want? A score? ;-)
