2008 Mike Press Shiraz

Adelaide Hills 14.9% Screwcap $10-$13 Source- Retail

Loaded up with sweet American oak and generous fruit, this is a real bargain. Rich plums, vanilla, redcurrants & blackberries, cinnamon and chocolate liquorice bullets. Holds its alcohol with ease and has sufficient ripe tannins to gently control the plush flavour profile and texture. The wine is quite spicy too and only medium to full bodied.

It’s at its best after a good decant, or better yet a few years in the cellar. But it isn’t difficult to enjoy now. An honest old school wine with plenty of character and some real class. Did I mention the level of value? Not much more to say. I picked up a case (most of which will be laid down) & once again I’m a happy customer.
