Dear me, my first entry from the Mornington Peninsula. At least I’ve got around to it now I guess. To pick up a wine of this quality for $16 almost makes one feel guilty. Not the same level as the Devil’s Lair but a top drop all the same. Yes, I wrote drop
Peach (white and riper), assorted stone fruits, bread and hazlenuts. It’s well put together, a touch loose at times if you’re being really picky but you could just as easily say gentle or generous. The spicy oak is a treat and plays a large part in the quality of the finish. So it’s not as integrated, focused or driven as the Devil’s Lair but it’s still immensely satisfying. I found it a bit more full flavoured than my favourite MP chardonnays, but not really the worse for it. Just a slightly different style.
Very good Chardonnay at a ridiculous price point.

Please refrain from dropping in the word drop. It's even worse as "top drop". Please feel suitably chastened!

I forgot to add: you must try the Barwang 842 Tumbarumba Chardonnay 2006 if you're doing a bit of that variety. It's $35 at most Dan's, or slightly less in mixed six. It's a must-try in muy view.

I had so hoped I'd find someone taking objection to my use of the word "drop". I'm both pleased & chastened at the same time!
I've been meaning to try that 842 Barwang actually, just always leave the store with something else. I'll make sure I pick one up in the next couple of weeks.
Thanks Michael.
ps- I'm quite positive the 842 will be a top drop, & I'll be certain to say so if it lives up to my now high expectations
