2012 Heggies Chardonnay

imageWhen I think of Heggies, Riesling is the first thing to enter my mind yet the website tells me that the Chardonnays – both from the Eden Valley – are the flagships. So there you go. This is the ‘entry level’ offering.

A leesy, mealy jacket over pristine white and yellow peach, woodspice, pears and lemon. Struck flint and a clean mineral presence on the palate. The nougat oak (28% new French barriques) needs time to integrate. One could ask for a touch more length but what’s here is good. 90+

Region: Eden Valley
