2012 Chapel Hill Mourvèdre

chapel hill mourvedreAttractive new website since I last visited. Wines listed with food matches which is great because I don’t know what the hell I’m doing when it comes to that. I always choose pork. In this case they’ve recommended “[p]orchetta with fresh salad and hot bread” so I wouldn’t have been far off the mark.

Lithe and muscular with stern tannin but plenty of oomph. Smells good too. Lilacs, redcurrants, blueberry, animal hide and dark chocolate coated plums. A spicy palate with iron filings and a handful of Brazil nuts. Not at all overblown. Structure and flavour in carriage. 93
