2013 Yangarra Roussanne

yangarra roussanneThis is Australia’s best Roussanne and my, oh my is it looking fine this year. I tasted several of the individual barrels that went into making it with Pete Fraser last year and it was clear that he had some excellent material to play with come blending time. Quite a lot of diversity as well.

An extremely nutty and waxy wine with chewy phenolics that exhibit exceptional finesse. It smells of honeysuckle, lemon curd, smoke and sourdough. Seems a little sleeker than the previous vintage but doesn’t want for intensity. An aftertaste of spice and unsweetened peach iced tea. So very delicious and captivating. 94

Tried this before Christmas and was super impressed. All the texture and complexity without any oilyness. Sam goes with their Viognier, beautifully balanced wines.
