2011 Clos du Tue-Bouef Touraine Le Brin de Chèvre

touraine chevreA challenging vintage for Touraine in the Loire Valley apparently. This is the first time I’ve dipped my toes into the water so to speak. And it was a struggle.

Asparagus risotto, ginger beer, an oxidative-like nuttiness, lemon curd and herbs. Rather unctuous with a honeyed palate displaying soft acid. Plenty of woody phenolics and only a little of the cleansing slate I’d hoped for. The aftertaste is all tea leaf. An uneven wine. 86
