2010 Zeppelin Barossa Grenache

ZepGren10B_161_583The fruit comes from vines between the age of 60 and 80 years in the Northern Barossa. Maturation took place in old oak for 12 to 18 months.

Sweetly fruited with raspberry, blackberry and macerated cherries. A whiff of rubber on opening. It becomes more savoury with air. Dry earth and brown spice surface. Unobstructed by obvious oak and generously proportioned with a bit of grainy tannin to hold onto. Warm but thankfully any spirit-like characters are absent. Not bad at all. 88
