2011 Meerea Park indie Shiraz Pinot

meerea indie A blend of 70% Shiraz and 30% Pinot Noir, all from the Hunter Valley, co-fermented with stalks. A 10% increase in the Pinot element from the 2010. It’s (fittingly) in a Burgundy bottle this year but we’ll make do with an image of the old packaging until I can get an update.

Red and purple florals and earth with red cherry/berry fruits surfacing over blackberry and musk. Meaty, gamey edges. Slightly sappy, slightly tinny tannin. Just a suggestion of vegetation. Interesting and lighter than the other 2011 Meerea Park reds. The acidity feels less forced as well. 92
