2013 De Bortoli Sacred Hill Chardonnay

sacred hill chardServiceable Chardonnay and as good as you’re likely to find for seven dollars. Some respect for De Bortoli mentioning on their website that oak staves (rather than barrels) were used during fermentation. The oak influence does feel cheap but what do you expect for the price? Anyway, it’s fruit driven so it matters even less.

Peach, melon and pineapple take centre stage. Decent acid cut makes a play against gentle creaminess. A hint of vanilla. It’s a simple wine without any great interest but it isn’t difficult to drink. 86
