2012 Medhurst Yarra Valley Steel’s Hill Pinot Noir

medhurst steels hill pinotThe fruit comes from the Woori Yallock subregion of the Yarra Valley and vinification takes place in much the same manner as it does for the standard Medurst Pinot with the exception of no new oak being used.

Lots of pepper spice and an earthen persuasion combine well with ripe dark cherry fruit to produce an open and giving Pinot Noir with gentle sappiness and subdued florals. Has an easy-going drink now nature but there is still a pleasing complexity to the wine. Considerably more impressive than the 2012 Steel’s Hill Chardonnay and well worth a look at its price point. 90
