2013 Oliver’s Taranga Small Batch Vermentino

Olivers Taranga 2012 vermentino 2Fiano may be the superior grape but it’s Vermentino that’s gaining the head of steam in Australia. So be it.

Tastes and smell of sour lemons, herbs, sea shells, melon and rind. The palate offers curves and refreshment in roughly equal measure. The bitter almond skin notes on the back-end are the most interesting part of the wine for me. That and the savoury edge that it possesses. Plays it relatively safe but succeeds within its chosen paradigm. Should make plenty of people happy. I have 89/90 written down but I’ll go with the higher score because of that. 90
