Not heard of Pepperilly Estate before but this is a pleasant way to make their acquaintance. They’re situated in the Ferguson Valley region of the Geographe GI, just an hour north of the Margaret River. This is a free-run blend of 70% Cabernet and 30% Shiraz which sees three months in two year-old French oak.
Pale in colour but has presence on the palate whilst still feeling sprightly. Forest berries, red cherries, tangy citrus acidity and a suggestion of watermelon. Hints of leaf temper the gentle fruitiness. Spicy and savoury aspects. Has some creaminess in the mouth then phenolic grasp at the end. Pretty good length on the dry finish too. Like it. 88 Good
