Peter Dredge is making some classy wines under the Bay of Fires label and this Pinot from the Derwent and Coal River Valleys in Tasmania is no exception. Sees a little whole bunch inclusion adding perfume, spice and meatiness.
Red and black cherries with some riper, richer raspberry notes. No lack of flavour here. Vanilla oak sheen but it’s not too showy thank goodness. Intertwines with the fruit well. A touch of foresty undergrowth and a fair amount of seasoning via pepper and exotic spice. Unforced sense of complexity and good penetration. Stemmy tannin to close. I reckon this may improve with a bit of age. 92+ Very Good
