2010 d’Arenberg Stump Jump Grenache Shiraz Mourvèdre

There are times when I wonder if d’Arenberg’s Stump Jump red isn’t the most impressive wine in their (very comprehensive) stable. Not their highest rating wine, don’t get me wrong, but the value here is off the charts. Friendly but with just enough interest to take it up a level beyond just quaffing. Not that it isn’t sessionable.

Meaty and spicy with raspberry, plum, jubes, pepper spice and a little earth. That’s a nice degree of sophistication in a wine this price. It drinks remarkably easily, unhindered by obvious oak influence. Lacking pretense yet admirably interesting. An easy recommendation then. Good

    Good call Jeremy. Reliable wine plus great vintage equals value plus for the 2010 Stump Jump GSM. $10 at major retailers, I’ve put a couple away just to see what they’re like in 5 years time.

    Thanks Matthew. At $10/bottle it would be a fun experiment to whack some away for five years. Can’t really see the 2010 falling over completely in the next five years and it would be fascinating to see how it did develop.
