Interesting Cabernet Sauvignon from McLaren Vale. Possesses a rare degree of finesse considering it’s hardly a cool climate area. On the other hand, I can see some finding it a bit too thin and lacking in regional expression. I reckon it’s just elegance myself.
The first smell to hit you is Black Jelly beans – as opposed to Cassis, which plays less of a role. There’s a bit of leafy/herbal action, some violets and plenty of choc licorice bullets (the most regional of its characteristics) I love the minimal oak treatment and the medium bodied palate. It sure slides down easy and fits the bill for the price. If you’re after a lunch time claret then take the higher rating. Good – Very Good
