2010 Kingston Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

Coonawarra, Wrattonbully 14.0% Screwcap $13.99

There’s some good value Cabernet to be had in Australia for under $15 and this one’s right up there in the pecking order. I tasted it alongside the 2010 Kingston Estate Merlot and, not surprisingly, this was the better wine by a fair margin.

A heady nose of violets, cassis bordering on Ribena®, pouch tobacco and choc mint slice. The oak comes across as a little rough but it still drinks well. Improved on the second day of tasting – always a good sign.

Generic Cabernet? Maybe. Worth the dollars? Definitely. 88
