2010 De Bortoli Windy Peak Chardonnay

Victoria 12.0% Screwcap $14

I lined up four De Bortoli Chardonnays last week – 2010 Estate, 2008 Reserve, 2008 Gulf Station and this. In terms of QPR (Quality-Price Ratio) the Windy Peak was the pick of the bunch. You’re getting a very nice wine here for the price. It’s often available for around $10 in the big chains too.

Lemon Sunlight soap and peach fuzz with a hint spice and lees. Citrus is emphasised on the palate but some fatter fruits play on the periphery. Not very complex but focused acidity and length make up for that.

A strong recovery after the disappointing 2009. Very food friendly I might add.

Well, that's two chardonnays you've fast-tracked towards the top of my must buy wine list this week JP.

Thanks (but not from my wallet ;)
